Place Value!
 
In math, we are learning about place value. Place value is the value of a number depending on it's place in the whole number! For example, if you have the number 38. You have 3 tens, and 8 ones. 3 groups of ten will give you 30, and the 8 ones will give you 8. 30+8=38. Below is a picture to give you a better idea for what I'm teaching and your child is learning. We are not working in the hundreds place, just the tens and ones place. We are using manipulatives in class like the ones you see below to help us better understand the groupings. The homework you see your child bringing home will have questions related to this on it! I just wanted to prepare you for what place value is exactly! Thank you :).
